History of Bingo

Bingo is one of the most popular games and forms of gambling played today. It is estimated that bingo is around 490 years old. It all started in the 1500s, in Italy, where bingo came from their traditional lottery game “Il Giuoco del Lotto d'Italia”. This game consisted of cards with numbered squares on them. Then, in the late 1700s, it moved to France under the name “Le Lotto”, where a young Frenchman developed an alternate version of the game. In this version, there were printed numbers on cards, with the numbers 1 through 90 in random arrangements, in nine vertical columns and three horizontal rows. The numbers were drawn from a sack. The first person who covered a horizontal line was the winner. In the 19 century in Germany, the game was also used as an educational tool to teach children their times tables, spelling, animal names and even history.

In the 1920s, the game travelled to North America where its name evolved to “Beano”. When the players found all numbers in a row, they used to shout this when they found all numbers in a row. While Edwin Lowe, an American toymaker was travelling, he stumbled across a carnival in Georgia. While he was exploring the carnival, he came across a crowd of people playing a game called “Beano”. When he returned home to New York, he made his version of the game. He used a rubber numbering stamp, cardboard and dried beans. He started playing by gathering all of his friends. They loved it and it’s believed that this enthusiasm is responsible for the game’s name that we know and love today.

How Does Bingo Work?

It’s super easy to play bingo. When the numbers are called out, all you have to do is cross off the numbers you have on your tickets. If you cross off all your numbers before the other players, you are the winner. When the bingo caller starts reading out numbers from the bingo balls, you need to see if those numbers match with the numbers on your cards. If the number matches, then you have to cross it off and you have to repeat this until someone wins. Usually, there are three winners - FH (full house), 1L (one line) or 2L (two lines). If the game has a special prize for scratching out the numbers in a particular pattern, you could win money. However, you may not win the game if you mark a particular pattern out, but you could win extra money. Last, but not least, during the breaks in bingo, there are even mini-games with cash prizes up for grabs.

How To Play Bingo

Wondering how to play bingo? The rules of bingo are fairly simple and we’ll explain all of them. The first thing you need to do is to purchase the bingo tickets. They cost from as little as 1p and are available in the bingo lobby before the start of the game. Once the first number is announced, the game starts. If that number is on your ticket, you have to cross it off. The numbers will continue to be called until someone crosses off all the numbers. You need to complete one line to get the first prize. It will be announced if there might be further prizes to be won. Until all the numbers on your ticket have been crossed off, the numbers will continue to be called. It’s important to point out that not all bingo tickets can be used in every bingo room. The rooms in which you can use the bingo tickets will be specified. Lastly, there are some rooms where you can enjoy playing for free, which means you don’t have to purchase bingo tickets for every single room.
